Before a long afternoon of work during a business trip, a colleague and I went out for lunch, coffee and tiramisu (the last one, obviously, was non-negotiable).
The food itself was nothing particularly noteworthy, but the coffee… that was a different story.
When I ordered a coffee with milk, I was expecting a traditional cup, perhaps even with a saucer and an extra biscuit. What I got was… Well, the saucer was there, and so was the biscuit, but the glass containing my coffee was absurdly tiny — barely bigger than a vodka shot glass. For a moment, I wondered whether the waiter had accidentally brought me a sample size.
I took a sip. It was excellent.
Apparently, Italians live by the rule that coffee doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be good.
